There are places that don’t just steal your heart — they quietly make it their own.

Our family has roots in Smyrna, where the air was once filled with music and fragrant markets — but it was on Hydra where those roots took hold. An island where cars have no place, and time moves to the rhythm of the sea and footsteps on stone. Since the 1970s, Hydra has been our family’s sanctuary and source of inspiration.

There’s something in its pace, in the sound of donkeys’ hooves echoing through the alleys, in the breath of the sea as it brushes the rocks… Something that kept calling us back, again and again, until one day we realized — we were no longer visitors. We had returned to where we truly belonged.

In the early 2000s, we discovered a 19th-century stone-built mansion near the port. It carried the pride and elegance of another era — and it longed for care. Dimitra, a creator and artisan of handcrafted jewelry with years of experience and international exports, immediately saw the quiet beauty behind its faded edges. Alongside her daughter, Chrysanthi — who worked in banking for 13 years while also building a family and raising two children — they brought a shared dream to life: to breathe new soul into the house with tenderness and respect.

In 2019, after years of thoughtful restoration, two independent studios were born — bright, minimal, with a unique view of the harbor. Spaces that honor the home’s history while embracing hospitality. They retain the soul of the old house, while offering comfort and a touch of quiet luxury.

These studios are part of our family’s journey — a journey through time, guided by love for beauty, that brought us here. To Hydra.
